TERT’s methods are normally applied in early exploration stages, where knowledge of a given area (greenfield or brownfield) is important before obtaining a license or investment is made, or where complex geological conditions and/or after conventional methods fail to produce the expected results. 

Oil & Gas Exploration Status

In the industry today, it is acknowledged that exploration is high risk with a worldwide success rate of approximately 20% being accepted as normal. This is gambling; normally with someone else’s money. It is possible to reverse these odds with proven technology that has been developed over the past 36 years. 

Many dry wells are drilled due to a poor understanding of the sub-surface geology due to the exploration tools that we use today, tools that came into the industry during the 1960s.

Exploration with STeP®

STeP® survey will cover the whole area of interest 

and reduce this to high potential areas of oil & gas resources at a scale ranging from 1:100,000 – 1:10,000 (as applicable) and render a greater concentration of funds and other exploration resources on the areas with the highest potential only. 

The information about regional and sub-regional trends, fault systems, lineaments, geological conditions favourable for locating oil & gas systems, and structural features cannot be obtained using traditional remote sensing data (1.0) alone. The use of remote sensing (2.0) is required.

TERT’s Advanced Remote Sensing is Multispectral data where Non-visual bands of light are key, where many multiple passes are made during the day and night.

Algorithms adjust for vegetation and man-made footprints; very powerful computational power is used.

This is empirical as the data is processed first; 

the second phase is interpretation by our experienced PhD geoscientists.

ALL data that is collected in the field by different methods is only data, ALL data needs to be analysed/processed to arrive at conclusions/results from the costly data that has been collected.

      Conclusion on STeP® for Oil & Gas Exploration

Unlike conventional exploration approaches; STeP® will give a comprehensive understanding of the geology of any given area with the resource potential for the whole area, reduce this to high potential targets quickly, remotely and cost effectively, where at the same time reduce the risk and and often wasteful spening of money in areas that may or may not containg commercial prospects.

This allows the spending focus  to be on high-potential areas only, plan licence retention, discard none potential areas with a solid early-stage understanding of any given area. 

At times, this can be done before a licence is obtained, why obtain a license for an area if you do NOT know that it contains the resources that you are interested in?
